Talk 4 - This philosophy helps top athletes treasure every moment
Every moment you experience is unique and will never return. So not just that wonderful holiday under a beautiful starry sky. That Wednesday morning on your way to the office, too. Or this very moment, while you sit watching this video. The Japanese philosophy Ichi Go Ichi E (one time, one meeting) teaches you that real beauty doesn't lie in how rare something is, but in how fully present you are when it happens.
Exercise 4 - Activating Nasal Breathing
Being present sounds simple. But most of the time you're not here, you're time-travelling in your head. Back to yesterday ("if only I had"), forward to tomorrow ("once I finally"), ahead three weeks. Your body is always in the now. Your thoughts almost never are. This exercise uses your body as an anchor: a small physical reminder that brings you back to the moment where you actually are.
Draw a small letter N (for "now") where your watch normally sits, like a temporary tattoo. Each time you look at it, notice what's already pleasant right now, however small: the warmth of the sun, the taste of your coffee, a friendly smile.
